What on your USB Drive?

Remember the times when you had to carry a case full of floppy disks to carry your digital documents and files? I do. Portable media storage devices like the zip drive were already available at that time but they were quite expensive and not everyone could afford them. Technology has vastly improved and gone a long way since then. Portable media storage devices like the USB flash drive or thumb drive are becoming smaller, cheaper and have more storage capacity. They are now a common sight and you see a lot of people bring it with them to school, in the office or anywhere they go.

I recently purchased a 4 GB Sandisk Micro Cruzer. I bought this USB flash drive because it was on sale for cheap from Amazon.com and because I needed something that can store important files, portable programs and installers for different programs like office productivity software, data recovery, anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, web browser, cd/dvd burning software and other useful utility software. I bring it with me anywhere I go because it can come in handy in certain situations.

Anyways, while I was sorting the stuff in my USB flash drive, I thought of blogging about it, share with you what I have on inside it and at the same time ask you guys what you have on your USB drives? This is quite a long list and it should’ve been more if I had extra space on my USB flash drive. Btw, all of the programs/installers in this list are freeware or open source. Interactive Projector from Light Touch Makes a Touchscreen from Any Surface

Interactive Projector from Light Touch Makes a Touchscreen from Any Surface

The gadget shows multimedia content using Holographic Laser Projection (HLP) technology. Because the Light Touch brings high-quality video images in WVGA resolution, the user is able to access any content just like on any other portable gadget.

In addition, the user is free to control the projector and use various applications by touching the picture with their fingers. This is possible thanks to the infrared sensors that turn the projected image into a 10.1-inch virtual touch-sensitive display.

The Light Touch was developed by engineers from Light Blue Optics. Unveiled at CES 2010, the device represents an interactive projector with multi-touch technology that makes it possible to transform virtually any surface into a touchscreen. Read the rest of this entry »

Mayweather vs Mosley on March 13 ?

Mosley’s foe withdraws due to Haiti tragedyThe stellar fight could be announced “as soon as Tuesday,” according to David Mayo of The Grand Rapids Press.

The rumored clash is planned to take place on May 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was earlier reported that Mayweather would continue to fight on March 13, the schedule of his botched bout with Pacquiao.

Mosley was slated to fight on January 30 against Haitian Andre Berto at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

But Berto pulled out of the welterweight unification bout because of the devastation in Haiti where he lost some family members.

Pacquiao and Clottey, meantime, will formally announce their “The Event” fight also on Tuesday in Dallas, Texas. Their March 13 clash will be held at the Cowboys Stadium.

Mayweather and Pacquiao were supposed to face off on March 13 at the MGM Grand but talks crumbled because of their disagreement on the drug testing procedure. Pacquiao also sued Mayweather and some of his team members for alleging that the pound-for-pound king was taking performance-enhancing drugs.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr., who was left without a foe when Manny Pacquiao chose to fight Joshua Clottey, has reportedly found an opponent.

The undefeated boxing star is said to figure in a match against fellow American Shane Mosley.

Windows 7 in Apple (Boot Camp Update 27-inch iMac fix)

Apple finally brings official Windows 7 support to Boot Camp (update: 27-inch iMac fix)

Either Apple isn’t operating on the Gregorian calender, or these updates are just straight-up late. Either way, we’re pretty stoked to see the suits in Cupertino finally wise up and allow Microsoft’s best OS ever to work on its machines, as it has today issued new Boot Camp software (v3.1) for both 32-bit and 64-bit users of Windows 7. The updates add native support for Win7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate, and in case that wasn’t enough, they also fix “issues” with the Apple trackpad and add support for Apple’s wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse. You’ll also find model-specific drivers floating around to add even more support, and the Boot Camp Utility for Windows 7 Upgrade is said to “safely unmount the read-only Macintosh volume on Windows Vista” when upgrading from Vista to Windows 7. Hit those links below for all the bits and bytes that you’ve been so desperately waiting for.

Update: we’re hearing reports that the 27-inch iMac is responding to Windows 7 with the Black Screen of Death, so make sure you use this tool from Apple before installing Windows 7. Too late? Then you’ll have to manually remove the offending default ATI drivers by starting from point 4 on this page (hold down Option key while booting up to select the Windows install disc, by the way), and then try the Boot Camp update again.
